In the Market For a D-man?

In need of some more picks, I'm considering parting with one of two defensemen...

ALEC MARTINEZ

Right on the cusp of 40 points last season, Martinez was tied for 24th in d-man scoring. That means that on most teams he's a #2 d-man

Now, there are lots of reasons I'm hesitant to part with this Hispanic hero, but one of the big ones is the excitement around the coaching change next year in LA. Gone is ol' lock 'em down Sutter and in comes John Stevens - the guy who, when he last coached the Flyers, had them fourth in the league in goals-scored. Expect more in the same, and Martinez should be one of the chief beneficiaries of a revitalized Kings offense.

Maybe he'll win your team a Cup, too?

Looking for something a bit younger?

NOAH HANIFIN

Now, Noah "only" tied for 54th in d-man scoring (which again would make him a third d-man on most teams), but we obviously have to look beyond that to understand his biggest asset - his youth. This future stud is only 20 years old and he already has 160 NHL games to his name!

Hey baby, I've played 160
NHL games. Let's fuck.

One-third of his points came on the power play last season, and expect more of that going forward. If you're looking for a young stud to add to a stable of young stud d-men, this could be a big opportunity for you.

Remember, too, that NHL Central Scouting had him listed as the third ranked North American skater in the 2015 draft behind only Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel. I won't start an argument over the word pedigree, but check out that pedigree!

Man, this guy's going to keep getting better, don't trade him, McLaren!
